Maintaining engagement through a major business transformation programme

The client

How often have you heard someone say “I’m not against change, it’s how it’s implemented that’s the problem”. One of the major names in the banking world, were undergoing a far reaching transformation programme that affected key processes and roles. Concerned about the risks involved and the impact on the key employees, Edgecumbe was asked to advise on how to maintain staff commitment to the process and to keep senior management informed of what was going on.

Edgecumbe’s contribution

Following consultation we recommended and implemented a survey programme of staff involved in the transformation programme. We sought to find out how the changes were affecting them and their department, how well the changes were being introduced and whether intended benefits were being realised. Our research team designed the questionnaires and provided the analysis before reporting back to senior management making suggestions for action.

The outcome

The regular surveys achieved a high response rate, and provided invaluable data that was used to ensure that the programme stayed on track. Employees were kept informed of the information produced through the survey and it was used to ensure that an effective dialogue was retained with staff through the critical period of change.
